Great Bay Music Festival is THE festival in NH that you should be attending. They are bringing a killer line up to a beautiful venue, while raising money for a great cause. Festivals like this in NH are rare!
Great Bay Music festival is actually a fundraiser to raise money for the nonprofit Great Bay Wilderness and Music Camp to be held on the farm in the future. They would like to start this camp to teach people about music, very important environmental issues, hiking, low impact camping, conservation, kayaking, climbing and more. We support this!!
THE LINE UP
26 bands in 4 days!
Here are a few of the artists we are very excited for, and brief descriptions, straight from the bands themselves!
Go check out their websites to listen to some tunes or read more about them!
This dynamic singer, songwriter and guitar shredder describes his music as “island-infused, drum ‘n’ bass, Gospel ninja soul.” Having taken the live looping technique to the next level, the colorful, charismatic Zach Deputy is generally seen headlining packed clubs and on major festival stages from coast-to-coast, delivering a one-man dance party that sounds like a 6 piece band.
We’ve had the chance to see Zach Deputy a few times, and he has always delivered a whole hearted feel-good performance!
John Brown’s Body
John Brown’s Body uses reggae as a foundation, but incorporates dub, drum and bass, and electro to create a sound both timeless and forward. Described by LA2DAY as “delivering the most forward-thinking reggae music in the world today” the 8-piece band’s killer live show has super heavy rhythms, a three piece horn section, air tight drum and bass and “the most gorgeous melodies in all of modern reggae music” [All Music Guide], all backed by a dubbed-out sound engineer.
Sam Kininger Band
A Berklee alum, and saxophone legend, Sam Kininger is building his fan-base and repertoire simultaneously at clubs across the country.
Kininger has been in legendary funk/soul groups since the beginning, including, but not limited to Lettuce and Soulive.
His original funk band, which also features Amy Bowles on Key’s, Aaron Bellamy on Bass and Nikki Glaspie (Beyonce) on Drums (as well as an assortment of other rotating musicians), has been blowing away audiences with their high-energy funk for about 7 years now, and their musical evolution and popularity is exponentially growing with each show.
Thumping up from basement parties in Boston, to bumping the sounds systems of major venues all across the east coast,Dopapod has been steadily growing as a musical tour-de-force for 3 years. An experimental funk-rock group from Brooklyn, NY, Dopapod is Rob Compa (guitar), Chuck Jones (bass), Eli Winderman (keys), and Neal Evans (drums). We got the chance to interview Rob Compa for a brief preview of a show they recently played at the Empire in Portland (Check that out Here). We also got a few words from Eli for another festival preview we were working on! (Read more Here!). These guys bring serious heat to the stage.
